We went into the 2012 racing season with a new sense of determination. This would be our first back to back season on the same manufacturer and re-signing riders DiSalvo and Dominguez. Our first agenda was no small task at all… the Daytona 200. After winning the historic event on the Ducati last year we knew there was no shortage of competitive riders looking for the win.
This year we decided to do something a little different and instead of flying our new team livery at the season opener, we dedicated the event to a previous Triumph/Daytona 200 winner, the legendary late Gary Nixon. With racing the historical #9 we wanted to the tribute to his 60’s Triumph to shine from the rider’s replica leathers and helmet to the crew’s uniform.
With pit stops complete and a run for a finish that Nixon himself would have been proud of, Jason and the team finished the 57 lap race just .048 seconds behind first place finisher Joey Pascarella.
The season was one spent racing for podium finishes in which Dustin had 5 straight race podiums, 3 track records, and a back to back wins at Mid Ohio. Dustin not only brought his winning personality but with it an alter ego named “Dee Sanchez”. The fans enjoyed Dustin’s enthusiasm and light hearted comical side sporting sombreros, mustaches, and even a look alike on the grid at Laguna Seca. It was this approachable demeanor that made his run for the East Coast Supersport championship that much more pleasurable. After battling back and forth for the championship points lead w/ Jake Lewis, Dustin finished 11 points behind with an impressive 2nd place.
